About Me

Hello! :)

My name is Amanda. I was born and raised in Colorado. I love my home state as well as our sports teams (mainly the Broncos and the Rockies).


I have been dating the same guy for almost 8 years now (yes, since we were freshmen in high school). We are still incredibly happy. :)

I just graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with my Elementary Education degree and an endorsement in ESL (pending the ESL exam I haven't taken yet...should probably get on that soon). After graduation, I had an interview with a school district in Kansas (over Skype, thank God for technology). I got the job!! I am so excited to be taking on my first year of teaching as a third grade teacher!

I am sad that I will be leaving Colorado. The mountains are so beautiful all year round and Kansas is really flat. All my friends and family are here. Mike will be staying here too because he still has to finish school at Colorado State University. But I am off to Kansas on August 2nd. Luckily one of my friends got a job in the same building as me so I won't be totally alone out there.

I wanted to create this blog to document my first year as a teacher. What I would love is for a new teacher next year to find my blog, read about and learn from some of my struggles and triumphs. I would also love advice from veteran teachers!
